The July 2026 release brings Azul Payara 7.2.0, Azul Payara Community 7.2026.7, Azul Payara 6.40.0, Azul Payara 5.89.0, and Azul Payara 4.1.2.191.57. A single security fix runs through every release, backported from the 7 line down to Payara 4: brute force attack prevention for authentication. Enterprise 6.40.0 additionally closes two Jackson CVEs that apply to the 6 line.

A Security Fix, Patched Across Every Branch

Brute force attack prevention has been added across Azul Payara Server and Micro 7.2.0, 6.40.0, 5.89.0, and 4.1.2.191.57, and Azul Payara Community 7.2026.7. The fix protects authentication against repeated credential guessing.

The June 2026 cycle ships the first regular monthly release of the Payara 7 line, plus a critical security fix that lands across every supported branch. Azul Payara 7.1.0 continues the Jakarta EE 11 line that went generally available in May, and is joined by Azul Payara Community 7.2026.6, Azul Payara 6.39.0, Azul Payara 5.88.0, and Azul Payara 4.1.2.191.56.

A single security fix, backported from Payara 7 down to Payara 4, runs through every release in this cycle. Two supported lines, 5.88.0 and 6.39.0, also carry a behaviour change to the server “ready” signal that a minority of deployments will want to read before upgrading.

Something has been in the works since Azul completed its acquisition of Payara in December 2025 , and today we’re ready to share it: the community edition of Payara has a new name and logo – but not so very different from the one you already know!

Payara Platform Community is now Azul Payara Community , made up of two distributions you already know and love - Azul Payara Server Community and Azul Payara Micro Community - plus the tooling and connectors that go with them.

The May 2026 release is the largest Payara milestone since the project’s inception. Azul Payara Server 7 and Azul Payara Micro 7 ship as generally available, both certified against Jakarta EE 11. This is the first major Payara product release under the Azul brand, arriving six months after Azul completed its acquisition of Payara in December 2025.

Azul Payara Community 7 (download here ), the open-source distribution, was the first implementation of any kind to certify across all three Jakarta EE 11 profiles (Full, Web Profile, Core Profile). Azul Payara Server 7 brings that certification to a commercially supported product with enterprise SLAs, making it the first commercially supported Jakarta EE 11 runtime from a major enterprise application server vendor. Both products ship with MicroProfile 6.1 (Config, Metrics, Health, Fault Tolerance, JWT, OpenAPI, REST Client, Telemetry Tracing). As we begin 2026, we’re pleased to announce new releases across all Payara Platform editions this January: Payara Platform Community 7.2026.1 , Payara Platform Enterprise 6.34.0 and 5.83.0 . These releases deliver important security fixes, address deployment and administration issues as well as refreshing multiple component versions across the platform.

Security Priority

This month’s releases address two security vulnerabilities. First, we’ve resolved CVE-2020-5258, a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the dojo.js library (versions 6.0.2 and earlier). This fix applies to Payara Platform Community 7.2026.1 and Payara Platform Enterprise 6.34.0, with dojo.js now upgraded to version 6.0.3.

Google Remote Procedure Call (gRPC) Example in Payara Server

Google Remote Procedure Call, or gRPC, is an open source Remote Procedure Call (RPC) framework focused on high performance and is portable to any environment.
